Exploring Metro Manila Begins: My First Time in the Philippines

Over the next few posts, I’ll take you on a short journey to Manila—the capital city of the Philippines. This was my very first trip to the archipelagic nation, and in keeping with my travel habit, I chose to begin with the country’s main hub before venturing to renowned island destinations like Cebu, Palawan, and Boracay in future trips. I had taken a similar approach when exploring Thailand and Malaysia, starting from their capital cities before branching out.  Many of my friends were curious about this plan, since the Philippines isn’t a typical destination for most Indonesians, who often prefer Thailand, Malaysia, Singapore, or more recently Vietnam. About

Welcome to Sparkographics!

This blog is a personal journal of exploration—through photos, stories, and reflections on the many inspiring places I encounter. It began during the 2025 Jubilee Year, when I started visiting various Catholic churches and other sites across Jakarta and beyond. Those first journeys sparked a deeper appreciation for the architecture, history, and quiet beauty found in sacred spaces.

While the blog started with church visits, over time it will grow to include a wider range of sites—historical landmarks, museums, cultural spots, hidden gems, and other places that offer meaning, insight, hype, or simply a moment of stillness in a busy world.

What you’ll find here:

  • Photo essays and impressions from various destinations
  • Reflections on culture, spirituality, and the stories behind the sites
  • Occasional fun facts or trivia
  • A sense of curiosity and reverence for places that hold meaning—whether sacred, historical, or simply beautiful

Whether you're here for the architecture, the history, or the spiritual insights, I hope these posts spark something in you too.
